Bishop’s Letter
June 3, 2005
I am writing in response to your letter concerning the mission and apostolate of the Helena Community Educational Association, a Helena based FM Radio Statio, founded on the pillars of prayer, evangelization, teaching and healing.
I applaud your efforts to build upon Pope John II’s blueprint for evangelization by taking seriously the call of the laity to transform culture and society in the light of the Gospel. As your Bishop, I offer you my prayerful support as you carry out this potentially life giving apostolate to serve both Church and community through your mission statement and objectives.
In the Archdiocese of Seattle, I was aware that FM Radio was an important tool for evangelizing new Catholics to walk in the way of the Lord, and for re-activating those who had grown tepid or discouraged in their faith. I pray this endeavor will bring the light and life of the Holy Spirit to our community through an apostolate of evangelization, prayer, healing and proclamation, as we together strive “to proclaim the goodness of the Lord.”
I will watch the developments of this FM Radio Station project in the weeks and months ahead, and encourage you to work in conjunction with Renee St. Martin/Wizeman, whose skill and communications acumen can be very helpful. I also hope, on occasion, to be a contributor through a talk show format or through pre-recorded homilies at our Cathedral Church, using the airwaves to further the Mission of our beloved Catholic Church.
Abundant blessings on all of you who are striving so ardently to spread the Good News of the Lord and further the Mission of our beloved Catholic Church.
With warm personal regards, I am
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend George Leo Thomas
